Seattle Welcomes Hermana Alley

Alright folks I am here. Here in the very foggy Seattle.  My very first impressions.

  1. The clouds are way low, there isn't much sun here and for the few hours there were I was inside.  I better go get some vitamins.
  2. There are so many trees everywhere... my lungs have never felt more alive!  But really.  I feel like i'm in a forest always, expecting to see Bambi shortly.
  3. Everyone here works for Microsoft.  literally.  It's a very techi place and I never know what people are referring to.  wowwww.
"Welcome to Seattle!"
So yesterday we were picked up from the airport and guess what, there was 37 of us arriving.  apparently that is the largest around they have ever received here in this mission at one time.  The temple is on the boarder of my mission area but i still get to go (hopefully this transfer).  We took pictures ate lunch, and then were interviewed individually by president choi and his wife... this was the longest process ever. I went first and literally 4 hours later I was still waiting for everyone to finish up.  Mean time, all of us are chilling in a room role playing and asking questions.  I literally had to force my eyes to stay awake.  we sung hymns for a half an hour straight.  My vocal cords could go Broadway after this mission, or mute!   We then were assigned companions.  The chances of me getting a Spanish companion was very low.  Only two sets of sisters speak Spanish in this mission... we all know i'm horrible with luck no Spanish.  I've heard that Seattle is one of the most diverse areas out of the USA, so maybe i'll be good.  Who knows, but language study or even speaking my language is near to impossible.  TAKES EXTRA DEDICATION NOW!  So i'm assigned to two companions, sister prows and sister bennett. (don't quote me on that i'm horrible with names)  They are nice.  The hardest thing is they have been together 2 transfers and are extremely comfortable with each other, so when they carry on conversations I have no idea what's going on.  so that's hard. we live in an apartment that is pretty small, and everything is in sets of two.  So since their stuff is already in everything i'll most likely live out of the good ol' suit case.   We went and knocked some doors (only like four) and no one answered.  We then went to a meeting for some service project there doing in January on family history (Microsoft people speak a different language, I swear...)   Oh our area is one of the wealthiest our of all of Washington.  it includes newcastle, bellview, and essiqua (<----haha no idea how to spell).  yesterday night we also met the bishop, he is an extremely friendly guy and I was happy to learn the members here are very active in helping out missionaries.  Apparently if we get investigators to go on a church tour with him it's almost guaranteed they'll be baptized.  After waking up at 3 for the last three days, living off of 4 hours hit me hard.  I was exhausted and couldn't even function. It was written on my forehead i'm almost positive.  The first day arriving here was the longest day of my life.  I've never craved for sleep more so than yesterday.  Today we woke up studied then went to lunch with our ward mission leader(can you believe I'm eating real food now?)  and now i'm writing.  our p-days are on Mondays.

I'm a missionary now officially, it's a really strange feeling and it hasn't really hit me yet sense we haven't even talked to anyone about missionary work.  I am so fired up but I guess this area is pretty slow on progression.  We have almost one investigator.  7 baptisms for the year, the goal is 14 for the year.  Fun fact number two Seattle is up there to being stubborn about religion.  People think they don't need it.  HA that's what you think, just you wait....  Anyways it's been a tough start but i'm keeping a smile on my face, and refuse to break down.  Saying goodbye to my last district  sister was tough.  On the happiest note ever I saw sister Pingree.  Her face was hilarious when she first saw me.  I've never been so happy to see someone I know from home.  I also Saw Elder FOTU (SORRELLA ALLEY).  That was super fun, he goes home in 3 weeks.  He knew exactly who I was and he told me he reads your weekly email.

"MARY and I the best of friends.  She had the best reaction and
had no Idea I was coming."

Alright so i'm not in missionary paradise anymore, and I realize that.  So this is were it gets tough and the tough get going.  I'm focusing relying on the spirit and striving to do my best.  the mission motto here is to literally run everywhere with a purpose. Missionaries literally run from place to place or person to person.  We are dedicated!   The highlight of my life was getting to speak with you.  Thanks for the words of comfort and love.  I know this is where i'm supposed to be at, and I will make the best of it!  I love you all so much!!!

Washington is sooooo green!  wow...

With much love,

Hermana Alley amongst a sea of sisters!

"Updated picture of the state side missions we are headed off too!
Next big adventure, Dora the explore is ready (funny she speaks
more spanish than me... why did I not watch that when I was little haha)"

Richard so sorry I could call, I wanted to cry.  there were so many missionaries they I didn't have the opportunity.  Don't worry I wont miss it on my way to Argentina.
