What a crazy week! and can I just name
a theme, miracles... with missionary work nothing but the hand of the
Lord in my little world, let me start from the beginning...
Monday
we made alfajores with a member, can you just say delicious... straight
up heaven send in my mouth, well we get a call that we are going to
leave for sanadillo in 30 minutes for our renunion de districo in the
morning. alright so off we go running. who needs fresh clothing anyways?
and off we head on a ROAD TRIP! woot woot. So we arrived there and
spent the night with the sisters, we got to teach a family home evening
to a soon to be member. The next day we had the meeting which was
absolutely spiritual needed. YOu know those moments when its like
someone is reading your mind. Yup it felt like that for 2 hours. the
more I am a missionary the more I am aware of direct revelation. DIRECT
as in you have a question, BAM answered. on the way home we get another
call, Hermana alley we have your transmit stuff, (oh you mean I may
actually get to be legal in my mission, awesome) so we grab an extra
skirit maybe a toothbrush and a book of mormon and head to bragado, then
to RAMOS MEJIA. for those of you who dont remember this is my stomping
ground! I WAS so excited to return to the pench and see my companion
and the other hermanas. the only change that had happened was me.
After a long day of waiting in Argentina government lines for whos its
and whats it and GALOR! I got to return to work the day in Haedo! I got
to see Mika, Raycho, and Two incredible families that I was heart
broken to leave! it was so great and with transfers this week, It was a
miracle of an opportunity. I also found out that one of my contacts Leo
(I remember him, he was literally my last card for the night and I
thought to myself, nope He looks intimidating and I have to do all the
talking alone... but for a missionary you talk to him regardless) is
getting baptized this weekend! just goes to show you seeds really are
being planted. He even sent his thanks to me. HOW AWESOME IS THAT!!
The next day we headed to down down buenos aires which I imagine is
just like the land of Italy. Skinny streets and really old buildings, my
tourist eyes came out as I soaked up my surroundings wanting to See
more. after another very long day I now have all the paper work done and
just have to wait about two months... then I am legal. Whoooa
Okay so ask yourself now, What day is it? Oh it is Friday. Friday
morning and my companion look at each other with tired eyes and say,
lets get to work. For all of you that don't know we have these things
called key indicators, or goals that we HAVE to finish every week. Well
here we have very strict reach for the skies goals, and we at this time
had zero. This whole transfer we have been struggling to get 60
percent in them... which isn't horrible but isn't all that good either, in
my school mind I am failing. and we had a fear that this week wasn't
going to be any different. Well We have never worked harder and never
been blessed more. We found two incredible families (family paula and
family marilina) both of which have no issues with the ley de
castidad... aka dont have to get married to get baptized. and they have
the most incredible kids. Seriously put yourself in my american shoes in
Argentina dirt roads and you look around and see nothing but Gods hand
placing people in our path. President Carter the week before Had given
the whole mission suggestion on how to improve church attendance. My
companion and I had practically memorized his words as we used them in
the lessons. Well after using it on our investigators, Sunday rolls around. I am teaching in primary as my companion pokes her head in! we have one of our street contacts in Sunday
school! we didnt even teach him! and after rolls in Adolfo
(Progressing Investigator) and Gabriela and her son (PI) . WE HAVE 4 IN
CHURCH!! then, sacrament starts and in rolls a members non member
daughter to take the sacrament! WE HAVE 5!!!! I tell you what I am
eternally grateful for President Carters revelation for his instruction.
It was meant for 25 de mayo, as we were able to see the results. He
promised us we studied the material and put it to action we would see
results. MISSION COMPLETED. I know he receives revelation for our areas,
especially for me, directly from Dios and my Trust is one percent in
him.
After a crazy three days I would like you all to
know that we were able to achieve 100 in our key indicators. for all you
that just looks like a number, but it is al lot more. It means we found
a ton of new investigators, taught many lessons with members, and have
progressing families with fetchas who are in church. now that looks a
lot more like success. and we were able to accomplish it all in just
three days of work. Miracles have not ceased to exist people. with
divine power we can do the impossible! What a difference from last
week, huh. I couldn't be more grateful and for this week starts a new
transfer!
Love you all and thank you for your prayers!
Hermana Alley
p.s. This week I discovered the stars.... THERE ARE SO MANY STARS OUT HERE! I AM IN HEAVEN, LITERALLY!
p.s.s
Every elderly man out here loves to sing my companion and I the tango,
its tradition and it brings them happiness. haha also everyone likes to
set me up with there sons or grand kids. Obviously I tell them no, but
they say after the mission, when I am "free" they are going to play
match maker. Or Argentina...
